About Sunny Honey Home & the Ice Cream Design Challenge

Eight UP Collective graduates partnered with Ben & Jerry’s on the Ice Cream Design Challenge to create a brand new ice cream flavour - Sunny Honey Home. Featuring creamy lemon ice cream, gooey and sweet honey caramel swirls and lemon cookies, it brings the tastes of Morocco, Afghanistan, and Syria to our spoons.

Team work makes the dream work

Eight entrepreneurs with refugee backgrounds, together with allies from TERN and the migrant entrepreneur community, collaborated with Ben & Jerry’s Flavour Gurus and retail experts from Co-op.

They worked as a team to create a never-before-seen ice cream to bring the tastes and cultures of their home countries to Ben & Jerry’s ice cream family.

As part of the project, participants received mentoring and training to improve skills in product research & development, marketing and communication. They came together as a community and combined their skills and experience to leverage new ideas and create Sunny Honey Home.

An ice cream with a mission

Proceeds of the new flavour will help the next generation of refugee-led startups to flourish. Funds will be used to train more refugee entrepreneurs through UP Collective and for the first time, to provide access to microfinance by Skylight - a community-led fund providing inclusive finance to refugee entrepreneurs, enabling them to kickstart their ideas.
